Patna: The repatriation of the body of Patna-based electronics businessman Binda Singh, who died in Vietnam last week, has been cleared after visa-related delays were resolved following intervention by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), according to his family.
Singh, who ran a business in Chandni Market in Patna, had travelled to Vietnam from Mumbai on March 6 as part of a 90-member business delegation that included around 25 entrepreneurs from the city.
His family said the process of bringing his remains back to India had been held up for nearly three days due to visa complications affecting relatives travelling to complete formalities. The issue was resolved after the Vietnamese authorities issued visas to his son, Shubham Singh, and relative Sunil Singh, following intervention from the PMO, they added.
Singh is expected to arrive in India on Friday, with his mortal remains scheduled to land at Kolkata airport around 5am before being transported to Patna by road later in the day. Family members have begun preparing for his final rites.
He reportedly fell critically ill on March 10 while at an airport preparing to return to India, after suffering a heart attack. He was initially admitted to a hospital on Phu Quoc Island and later shifted to Ho Chi Minh City for advanced treatment.
Although his condition showed temporary improvement, it deteriorated again, and he died on April 4.
Following his death, the family also faced administrative hurdles in Vietnam that delayed repatriation, leaving relatives stranded until visas were granted and formalities completed, they said.
