Patna: A unique initiative has been launched in Patna to motivate people to vote in the upcoming assembly elections. All cinema halls in the district have announced a 50 percent discount on movie tickets for voters who cast their votes on November 6. The offer will be available on all shows on November 6 and 7. To get this special discount, voters simply need to show their inked finger at the cinema counter as proof that they have voted.
The decision was taken during a meeting held at the Collectorate on Monday, where cinema hall owners and district officials came together to discuss ways to increase voter turnout. The meeting was attended by the Additional District Magistrate (General), District Public Relations Officer Lokesh Kumar Jha, and several other senior officials. All participants praised the cinema operators for taking this commendable step to raise voter awareness in a creative and engaging way.
District Magistrate and District Election Officer Dr Tyagarajan SM has been leading a major voter awareness campaign across Patna. His goal is to ensure that the assembly elections are celebrated like a festival of democracy, with active participation from all sections of society. The administration has involved several organisations and associations, including the Chamber of Commerce, Cinema Owners Association, Indian Medical Association, School Association, Social Media Influencers, Resident Welfare Associations, Chemist Association, Shopkeepers’ Association, and the Sports Community.
Dr Tyagarajan said that such public initiatives would strengthen people’s awareness and sense of responsibility towards the democratic process. He appealed to all 49 lakh eligible voters in Patna district to step out and cast their votes on November 6. He added that every single vote matters in shaping the future of the state. With this cinema discount, the administration hopes that more people will feel inspired to vote — and then celebrate their contribution to democracy with a good film at half the price.
