Patna: Cybercriminals allegedly stole Rs 6.28 lakh from the bank accounts of two individuals in separate incidents in Patna. The victims reported losses of Rs 3.33 lakh and Rs 2.95 lakh, respectively. Both cases have been registered at the Patna Cyber Police Station, and investigations are under way.

In the first incident, a resident of Mehendiganj lost Rs 3,33,499 from his State Bank of India (SBI) and Axis Bank accounts through UPI transactions after losing his mobile phone. In the second case, Rs 2.95 lakh was withdrawn from the ICICI Bank account of a Raja Bazar resident while he was in Lucknow for official work.

Rs 3.33 Lakh Withdrawn After Mobile Phone Loss

According to the complaint, the Mehendiganj resident lost his mobile phone on October 18 while visiting his newly constructed warehouse. He had subsequently reported the loss at the Mehendiganj Police Station.

The complainant said he ported his mobile number and activated a new SIM card on the same day. However, Rs 3,33,499 was allegedly withdrawn from his SBI and Axis Bank accounts through UPI transactions.

The victim also filed an online complaint regarding the fraud. He later approached the Patna Cyber Police Station, seeking the recovery of the stolen amount.

Police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation into the case.

Rs 2.95 Lakh Stolen In Four Transactions

In the second incident, a native of Gopalganj currently residing in Raja Bazar reported unauthorised withdrawals from his ICICI Bank account.

According to his complaint, the victim travelled to Lucknow on October 28 to attend an official meeting. During his stay, he received a notification on his mobile phone indicating that money had been deducted from his bank account.

Upon checking the transactions, he discovered that Rs 2.95 lakh had been withdrawn in four separate transactions.

The victim subsequently lodged an online complaint and submitted an application to the Patna Cyber Police Station, seeking the recovery of the funds and action against those responsible.

Police have registered an FIR and begun investigating the incident.

Police Investigation Under Way

The two cases involve a combined alleged loss of Rs 6.28 lakh. Both victims have approached the cyber police for assistance in recovering their money.

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the unauthorised transactions in both cases. Further details about the accused and the recovery of the funds are awaited.
