Patna: A 20-year-old Intermediate student was found dead in a rented accommodation in Patna’s Danapur area on Tuesday, with police launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The student, identified as Om Singh from Jamui district, was discovered hanging inside his room near the Visvesvaraya Nagar intersection under the jurisdiction of Rupaspur police station.
According to family members, Singh had been living in the area for the past two-and-a-half years while preparing for his examinations, which were scheduled to begin later this week.

Relatives said the incident came to light early in the morning when attempts to wake him went unanswered. After repeated calls yielded no response, family members forced open the door and found him hanging from a ceiling hook.
Police were informed and a team reached the scene, taking the body into custody. A postmortem examination was conducted at a sub-divisional hospital before the body was handed over to the family.
The station house officer, Shashi Bhushan Singh, confirmed the death and said the cause would be established following the postmortem report. He added that the motive behind the incident remains unclear at this stage. Police said further investigation is under way.
