Patna: Police have launched an investigation after a 17-year-old student was found dead in suspicious circumstances at a house in Nageshwari Colony on Khagaul Road in Danapur.
The deceased was identified as Kunal Kumar, son of Krishna Kumar Singh, a resident of Mathurapur in the Jagdishpur police station area of Bhojpur district.
According to police, the teenager’s body was found hanging from a noose inside the house where he had been staying. Officers from Danapur police station reached the scene after receiving information about the incident, took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem examination.
Student Preparing For Board Exams
Kunal Kumar was a class 10 student at DAV Public School on Gola Road in Danapur and was reportedly appearing for the Bihar Board matriculation examination. His final exam was scheduled for March 7.
Apart from his studies, he was active in sports and had been training as a boxer. According to family members, he had won medals in several competitions and had recently participated in a national boxing competition in Haridwar.
Living Alone In Rented House
Police said the teenager had been living in a rented house in Nageshwari Colony with his uncle, Pancham Singh. However, his uncle had reportedly left for Ramgarh for work three days earlier, leaving Kunal alone at the residence.
Investigators said they were examining all aspects of the case after the body was discovered under what they described as suspicious circumstances.
Minor Girl Detained For Questioning
As part of the investigation, police have detained a minor girl who was present at the scene and are questioning her to determine the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
A team from the forensic science laboratory (FSL) was also called to examine the site. Officials said the team collected several pieces of evidence from the house.
Family Alleges Murder
Family members of the deceased reached the scene after being informed about the incident and alleged that Kunal had been murdered as part of a premeditated conspiracy.
Relatives claimed that when they arrived at the house, police were already present and the door was open. They have demanded an impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The officer in charge of Danapur police station said the matter was under investigation and further legal action would be taken after receiving a formal complaint from the family.
