Patna: Patna district magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh has announced that all 32 projects launched by Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar during his Pragati Yatra on February 21 will be implemented on a fast-track basis. Addressing a press conference on Sunday, the DM said the state government had approved all the schemes in record time, ensuring swift execution.
JP Ganga Path To Be Extended to 142km
One of the major announcements during the Pragati Yatra was the expansion of JP Ganga Path—also known as Patna’s JP Ganga Path—from its existing 20.5km stretch to Mokama in the east and Koilwar in the west. Once completed, the corridor will span 142km, connecting seven bridges over the Ganga, with plans to integrate 10 bridges in the future. This expansion aims to enhance connectivity and improve transportation infrastructure across the region.
Eco-Friendly and Tourism Initiatives Along JP Ganga Path
The Patna DM outlined a series of projects focused on beautification and environmental sustainability along the JP Ganga Path, particularly in the stretch between south Digha and Sabhyata Dwar. These include a botanical garden, Mahila Haat (women’s market), Titli Park, a designated walking and cycling zone, Samagra Udyan (integrated park), vending zones, and overall enhancement of civic amenities.
To bolster green cover and mitigate pollution, the administration plans to plant nearly 100,000 trees in the area. “This will contribute to environmental protection while also fostering tourism and employment opportunities,” said Singh.
Revamping Sabhyata Dwar and Developing Patna Haat
Another key initiative is the development of the Sabhyata Dwar precinct. The landmark, which symbolizes Bihar’s historical and cultural heritage, will be linked to a newly paved Ganga Ghat on the east side and Ekta Bhawan on the west.
As part of this scheme, a Patna Haat will be set up near Gandhi Maidan within the Ekta Bhawan complex. The project will include underground and surface parking, a three-storey emporium, a restaurant, and a game zone. Artisans and small businesses from Bihar will be given a platform to showcase and sell their products, thereby promoting the state’s traditional handicrafts and local economy.
Pragati Yatra: A Push for Statewide Development
The Pragati Yatra is an ongoing initiative by CM Nitish Kumar to review development works and announce new projects across Bihar. During his visit to Patna on February 21, the chief minister emphasized the state’s commitment to infrastructure growth, environmental conservation, and employment generation. Similar projects have been launched in various districts as part of the initiative.
