Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) mounted rapid drainage operations after heavy overnight rains, clearing waterlogged streets in key areas within hours.
Officials conducted continuous inspections during and after the rain, with the Nagar Aayukt-cum-BUIDCO MD monitoring the city’s sump houses and drainage systems in real time. The operation targeted sensitive locations including Vidhansabha, Rajendra Nagar, Mithapur, Patna City, Sabzibagh, Baripath, Karbighhiya, Dwarkapuri, Bypass, Digha, Khetan Market, Gandhi Maidan, the airport and Board Colony.
A total of 40 complaints received through the toll-free helpline 155304 from localities such as Patliputra Colony, Patliputra Station, Kankarbagh, Kidwai Puri and Rajendra Nagar were resolved promptly. Quick Response Teams (QRTs) used additional pumps to remove water from affected spots, working round the clock in three shifts.
In total, 19 QRT teams were deployed across the city, with personnel from PMC and BUIDCO tracking sump house water levels through walkie-talkies and CCTV feeds. Additional pumping machines were stationed in all zones to keep the drainage system fully active.
PMC urged residents to report any fresh waterlogging through the 24×7 toll-free number 155304, assuring that its teams remain on constant standby to respond.
