The body of the child, identified as Roshni Kumari, was recovered wrapped in a blanket from a lane about 500 metres from her home, under the jurisdiction of the Bypass Police Station.

“We are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas and questioning suspects,” said Ranjit Kumar, the station house officer.
He added that police had searched the same area during the night but had found no trace of the child at the time.
