Patna: A windowpane of the Patna-Gomti Nagar Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 22345) was shattered after the train was allegedly hit by a stone shortly after departing Bihta station on Sunday morning.
The incident occurred at around 6.22am as the train was moving past Bihta station. The stone struck a window of the C6 coach, breaking the glass.
No passenger injuries were reported, although the incident briefly caused panic among those on board.
RPF begins search near Bihta
Railway officials and security agencies were informed about the incident. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has begun a search in the surrounding area to identify the person responsible.
The circumstances surrounding the stone-pelting and the identity and motive of the person involved will be established through the ongoing investigation.
Railways treat stone-pelting at moving trains as a serious safety concern because of the potential risk to passengers.
Train covers 544km to Gomti Nagar
The Patna-Gomti Nagar Vande Bharat Express departs from Patna Junction in the morning and runs via Ara, Buxar, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Varanasi and Ayodhya before reaching Gomti Nagar.
The scheduled route covers approximately 544km.
