Patna: Patna High Court has announced its annual summer vacation from May 18 to June 11, 2026, and constituted vacation benches to hear urgent civil and criminal matters during the recess period.
According to a notification issued by the court, proceedings during the vacation period will be conducted in two sessions:
- from 8:30am to 10:30am
- and from 11am to 1pm following a half-hour recess
Vacation Benches To Function In Three Phases
The High Court has organised the vacation benches in three phases.
First Phase: May 18 To May 21
During the first week, the bench headed by Justice Rajiv Roy will function as the Civil and Criminal Motion Bench.
Additional benches assigned for criminal and bail matters include:
- Justice Alok Kumar Pandey
- Justice Ramesh Chandra Malviya
- Justice Ashok Kumar Pandey
- Justice Saurendra Pandey
- Justice Ajit Kumar
- Justice Ritesh Kumar
- Justice Praveen Kumar
- Justice Anshul
These benches will hear:
- criminal matters
- anticipatory bail petitions
- regular bail applications
Second Phase: May 25 To May 28
In the second week, the bench presided over by Justice Ajit Kumar will function as the Civil and Criminal Motion Bench.
Meanwhile:
- Justice Ritesh Kumar
- Justice Anshul
will hear criminal cases during the period.
Third Phase: June 1 To June 4
In the third phase, the Motion Bench will be headed by Justice Parth Sarthi.
Additional benches led by:
- Justice Harish Kumar
- Justice Dr Anshuman
will hear matters related to:
- Section 482 of the BNSS
- cases under the SC/ST Act
- anticipatory bail petitions
The High Court is expected to resume regular functioning after the conclusion of the summer recess on June 11.
