Patna: The district administration in Patna has rolled out an extensive security and safety plan ahead of Holi, deploying magistrates and police officers across the city to maintain order during the festivities. Officials said the arrangements were designed to ensure public safety, prevent accidents and respond swiftly to any emergencies.
Sensitive locations and areas expected to witness heavy footfall will remain under close watch. Authorities have installed CCTV cameras and video recording systems, while drones will be used to monitor gatherings and movement across key points in the city. The administration said the use of aerial surveillance would help officials identify potential risks and intervene quickly if required.
In a significant preventive measure, the operation of private boats in rivers within the district has been completely banned for the duration of the festival. Officials have been instructed to take strict legal action against anyone found violating the order. River ghats across various subdivisions have been divided into sectors to streamline supervision and emergency response.
Seven teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed at identified riverbanks. Each team is equipped with two motorboats, divers and essential rescue equipment. Circle officers have also been directed to ensure that life jackets, trained boatmen and divers are stationed at riverbanks and ponds within their jurisdictions to reduce the risk of drowning incidents.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities. Any suspicious activity or emergency can be reported to the 24-hour district control room, Dial 112, the district emergency operations centre or the police control room helpline. Officials said the measures were aimed at allowing citizens to celebrate Holi safely and without disruption.
