Patna: A 15-year-old girl has alleged sexual assault at a hotel near Patna Junction, in an incident falling under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station. The minor approached the police with her family and submitted a complaint.
Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant provisions concerning sexual offences. An investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the alleged incident.
Minor Allegedly Taken To Patna On Promise Of Marriage
According to police, the girl had become acquainted with a young man and the two had been communicating.
The girl told police that the young man had allegedly assured her that he would marry her. According to the complaint, he subsequently came to meet her in Patna.
The two allegedly looked for accommodation there but could not find a hotel before subsequently reaching the area near Patna Junction.
Police Investigating Hotel Stay
According to the girl’s statement to police, the accused obtained a room at a hotel near Patna Junction, where they stayed during the night.
The girl later returned home. When her family members questioned her about her absence, she reportedly told them about the alleged incident.
The family subsequently took her to Kotwali police station, where the complaint was registered.
Medical Examination Conducted
Police have arranged a medical examination of the minor as part of the investigation.
Her statement is also expected to be recorded before the court in accordance with the legal procedure applicable to cases involving children.
Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the hotel stay and gathering evidence related to the complaint.
Hotel Staff Questioned
Investigators have inspected the hotel room identified in the complaint and are questioning hotel employees to establish the sequence of events.
Police are also examining the role of the accused and other circumstances connected with the case.
The investigation is continuing, and further action will be taken on the basis of the evidence and statements collected by the police.
