Patna: A student preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) was found dead in Patna on Friday afternoon. The incident took place at a house on Ramnagar Road No. 8B, where the 17-year-old boy had been staying with relatives for the last four months. Police said he was discovered hanging inside his room with a towel noose. The body has been sent for postmortem and further investigation is underway.
The deceased has been identified as Venugopal, a resident of Sohsa village in Arwal district. His father, a farmer, said the family had sent him to Patna with high hopes for his future. “He was the only son in our family. He had one sister. I had sent him to the city so he could prepare for his exams,” the father said. “I spoke to him last night and everything seemed fine. There was no problem at all.”
On Friday morning, repeated calls from his father went unanswered. Concerned, he asked his nephew who lived in Danapur to check on the boy. By the time the family arrived at the house around 3 pm, they were met with the tragic news. The main gate was locked, but when relatives and police managed to enter the room, they found Venugopal hanging.
The family has said there were no disputes, problems or signs of distress that could explain his death. They have not accused anyone of involvement. Police are treating the case as suicide but said the reasons remain unknown. The sudden death has shocked both the family and the local community, highlighting once again the intense pressure faced by students preparing for competitive exams in India
