Patna: A high-level meeting on the implementation of the Patna Metro Rail Project was held on Tuesday at the Commissioner’s office under the chairmanship of Patna Divisional Commissioner Mayank Warwade. Officials reviewed the progress of metro construction and were instructed to accelerate the pace of work. The meeting was attended by Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh, the Project Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and senior officials from the Building Construction Department, Central Public Works Division, and other agencies involved in the project.
During the meeting, the DMRC Project Director presented an update on the metro’s progress, particularly on the underground stations at Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, Moin- Ul-n Haq, and Rajendra Nagar, along with the metro depots and elevated stations at New ISBT, Jaganpura, Ramkrishna Nagar, Raja Bazar, Rukanpura, and Patna Junction. DMRC is currently constructing six underground metro stations.
Officials informed the Commissioner that construction of the underground section is progressing rapidly. The ongoing work at Gandhi Maidan, including the construction of Cross Passage-2 near Gate No. 1, was highlighted. The Divisional Commissioner directed the District Magistrate to inspect the site alongside officials from the traffic police, Patna Electricity Supply Undertaking (PESU), and DMRC. He stressed that traffic movement should not be disrupted, morning walkers should not be inconvenienced, and electricity supply must remain uninterrupted.
The meeting also reviewed issues related to land acquisition and transfer, with the District Magistrate confirming that all land-related matters had been resolved and that no pending cases were obstructing the project. The district administration has been ensuring the removal of encroachments, easing traffic congestion, and relocating existing structures along the metro corridor.
Commissioner Warwade commended DMRC’s work culture and assured that all obstacles to the metro project had been cleared. He directed officials to expedite the relocation of structures along the route and to keep the public informed about traffic diversions through newspapers and other media. He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing modern urban transport infrastructure, stating that the metro project would alleviate traffic congestion and enhance public transport in Patna.
Officials were instructed to continue site visits and address challenges as they arise. The Commissioner emphasized that the successful completion of the Patna Metro Rail Project requires the collective effort of all stakeholders and urged authorities to ensure its timely implementation.
