People are using the metro not just for travel but also as a place to shoot social media videos. Along with this, there have also been complaints of people spitting gutkha inside the metro premises, raising serious questions about public discipline.
A video of a young woman dancing inside a metro coach recently went viral on social media. In the clip, the woman, dressed in a black-and-white outfit and wearing high heels, is seen dancing to a Bhojpuri song while travelling between Zero Mile Station and the bus stand. The video was shot by a young man who was with her, and other passengers in the coach can be seen watching and smiling. The clip quickly spread online, turning the metro into what people are now calling a “reel shooting zone.”
Since the beginning of the service, many young people have been seen buying metro tickets only to shoot videos. Some record reels on Bhojpuri songs, while others make YouTube vlogs. What started as excitement over Patna’s first metro service has now turned into a trend of filming content inside metro coaches. Regular passengers have expressed their discomfort, saying that such activities disturb others and give a poor impression of how public property is being used.
Meanwhile, another issue that has come to light is gutkha spitting. Red stains have started appearing on metro walls, stairs, and even near the tracks. This behaviour has shocked many residents, who expected the metro stations to remain clean and well-maintained. People have raised questions about whether Patna can protect its new modern system from such unhygienic practices.
In view of these incidents, the metro administration has increased surveillance. Officials have said that CCTV monitoring has been strengthened across stations and metro coaches. Any person caught misbehaving, making reels, or spitting gutkha will face strict action. Authorities have also appealed to passengers to behave responsibly and help maintain cleanliness.
The Patna Metro was launched with great hope and pride as a sign of Bihar’s development. But these early incidents have shown that the success of such projects depends not only on technology or infrastructure but also on public behaviour. The administration is now working to ensure that the metro remains a symbol of progress, not a playground for social media fame.
