Patna: Chaos erupted at City Center Mall in Patna’s Buddha Colony area on July 2 after information surfaced about armed terrorists taking shoppers and workers hostage. Within minutes, commandos and Special Task Force units arrived and launched an operation that lasted nearly two and a half hours, culminating in the terrorists being ‘neutralised’.
Although this was a pre-planned mock drill, officials ensured it appeared as realistic as possible, with some soldiers simulating injuries to practise emergency response procedures. The drill aimed to prepare security forces for swift and effective action in real-life situations such as terrorist attacks.
Krishna Murari Prasad, SDPO, Law and Order, said regular drills were crucial to ensure teams remain prepared for emergencies. “This drill was successful and our soldiers performed excellently,” he said.
A similar drill was conducted recently at P&M Mall in Patna, lasting about two hours. Officials said such exercises would continue regularly to ensure preparedness, with the fire department and other emergency services also participating.
Authorities urged citizens to remain vigilant and follow administration instructions during any real emergency.
