Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation has intensified efforts to curb mosquito-borne diseases, including dengue and malaria, launching a special campaign in the Pataliputra and Bankipur zones.
On Thursday, Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar convened a meeting with the Additional Municipal Commissioner and all zonal Executive Officers to review and strengthen preventive measures. Officers were instructed to conduct on-site inspections and ensure strict adherence to anti-larva spraying protocols within 500 metres of dengue-affected households and hospitals.
The campaign involves daily fogging and anti-larva spraying, reaching around 18,000 homes each day. Teams are monitored through geo-tagged photographs and logbooks, which are verified at headquarters by the Additional Municipal Commissioner to ensure the programme’s effectiveness. Executive officers are also required to personally supervise operations in their respective zones.
Public awareness forms a key part of the initiative, with health officials engaging local communities to prevent mosquito breeding. Residents have been urged to avoid water stagnation near their homes and to contact the Patna Municipal Corporation helpline at 155 304 for assistance with anti-larva spraying and fogging.
