Patna: A gruesome murder case in Patna has exposed a chilling conspiracy involving a woman’s former lover and his brother-in-law. Police said the woman, from Gaya district, was killed after being trapped in a web of deception and betrayal.
The victim was previously in a relationship with Manish Kumar, who continued to remain in contact with her even after his marriage. The case took a shocking turn when Manish’s brother-in-law also began a relationship with the woman, allegedly promising marriage to gain her confidence.
According to the police investigation, Manish and his brother-in-law jointly planned her murder. Manish called the woman from Gaya to Patna, where she was attacked with a knife at a secluded location. Her body was buried in a nearby field.
However, after a few days, the body began to emit a foul smell, leaving the accused panicked. They hired a tempo driver for Rs 3,000 to dispose of the body elsewhere. The driver dumped the body at another location, leading to its recovery and a police investigation.
Patna Rural SP Vikram Sihag confirmed that the brother-in-law has been arrested, while the main accused Manish Kumar remains absconding. “Raids are being conducted to arrest Manish,” he said.
The tempo driver has also been questioned. Two other accused, identified as Pankaj and Sunil, have been arrested for their involvement in the conspiracy. Police claim they are confident of arresting the main accused soon.
