Patna: Police in Patna seized 3 rifles, 5 pistols and cartridges during a raid on a sand ghat in the Rani Talab area, arresting an alleged sand mafia kingpin accused in multiple criminal cases.
A police team led by City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh carried out the operation on Tuesday after receiving confidential information about illegal weapons being stockpiled for supremacy battles linked to the sand trade. Officials confirmed that the arrested man, identified as Gautam Kumar alias Goldie, has several cases registered against him, including murder and robbery, and is believed to control a significant illegal sand mining network.
The consignment of weapons has raised concerns that armed groups were preparing for a major confrontation. Authorities are now investigating how far the network extends and whether more weapons have been distributed.
