Patna: The journey between Patna and Rajgir is set to become shorter with the upcoming Rajgir-Karouta Tourist Way. This new road will improve connectivity and boost tourism in the region. Currently, the distance from Patna to Rajgir is around 108.5 km, but with this project, it will be reduced to 77 km. A large number of tourists visit Rajgir from Bihar and other states, making it one of the busiest travel routes.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to lay the foundation stone for the four-lane Rajgir-Karouta Tourist Way. This road will not only make travel more convenient but will also enhance the religious and historical significance of Rajgir. The project is part of the Bihar government’s larger plan to improve road connectivity to important destinations in the state.
According to District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar, Rs. 265 crore has been spent on constructing a 19 km stretch of the Salepur-Narsanda-Telmar-Karouta road, which is part of this route. The road is currently two-lane, with a width of 10 meters. A flyover has also been built near Narsanda to further ease traffic movement.
The foundation stone for this road project was first laid in 2021. The construction of the Salepur-Narsanda-Telmar-Karouta road is almost complete, and in the near future, it will be extended to form the Rajgir-Karouta Tourist Way. This new route is expected to make travel faster and more comfortable for both tourists and local residents.
