Patna: The Bihar Road Construction Department has set a target of 2028 for completing the 14.5-km Ramnagar-Kachchi Dargah six-lane corridor, being developed as part of the Patna Ring Road network.
The project has an estimated cost of Rs 1,183 crore. Road Construction Department Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal reviewed the progress of the project on Tuesday and directed officials to ensure that construction remains on schedule.
Corridor To Strengthen Patna Ring Road Connectivity
The six-lane corridor is being developed to improve road connectivity around Patna and provide an alternative route for traffic moving through the city.
The department is focusing on expanding road connectivity as part of efforts to address traffic pressure on Patna’s existing roads.
Officials reviewed the progress of the Patna Ring Road project and discussed construction-related issues with engineers involved in the work.
14.5-Km Ramnagar-Kachchi Dargah Section
The Ramnagar-Kachchi Dargah section is being developed under NH-131G as part of the six-lane Patna Ring Road project.
The 14.5-km stretch is being constructed under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode. The department has set 2028 as the target for completing the section.
The project is expected to improve connectivity between the outer areas of Patna and reduce dependence on roads passing through more congested parts of the city.
Several Major Road Projects Reviewed
The review meeting also covered the progress of several other major road projects in Bihar.
These included the Chausa-Buxar bypass, Daudnagar bypass in Aurangabad and the four-lane road from Bhagalpur to Dhaka Mor.
Officials also reviewed the Arwal bypass on NH-139 and the proposed four-lane road from the Bihar-Jharkhand border to Bhaljore in Banka.
Bettiah, Madhepura And Singheshwar Projects
The department also discussed proposals and approval-related matters concerning the Bettiah bypass on NH-727 and the Madhepura and Singheshwar bypass projects on NH-131.
Officials provided updates on the progress and status of the various projects during the meeting.
Focus On Timely Completion
The department directed engineers to accelerate construction and ensure that projects are completed within their stipulated timelines.
Special Secretary Dr Shailaja Sharma and engineers associated with the various projects also attended the review meeting.
For Patna, the completion of the Ramnagar-Kachchi Dargah six-lane corridor is expected to expand the city’s peripheral road network and strengthen connectivity under the wider ring road project.
