Patna: Patna University held its convocation ceremony at the Veronica Auditorium of Patna Women’s College, where 38 students from the PG session 2023–25 were awarded gold medals for their academic performance.
The medal recipients included 28 female students and 10 male students.
A total of 1,305 postgraduate students and 155 PhD scholars were also awarded their degrees during the ceremony.
The convocation was presided over by Lieutenant General (Retd.) Syed Ata Hasnain, Governor and Chancellor of Patna University.
Poonam Tandon Addresses Students as Chief Guest
Professor Poonam Tandon, Vice-Chancellor of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, attended the ceremony as the distinguished guest and addressed the graduating students.
Professor Tandon has been serving as Vice-Chancellor of DDU University since September 4, 2023. She is a physicist and professor known for her research in the field of spectroscopy.
Her academic work includes more than 250 research papers and over 32 book chapters, while her research has received more than 4,000 citations globally.
International Fellowships and Research Recognition
Professor Tandon has guided students in PhD and research programmes and has received several prominent international fellowships.
These include the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship, Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (Germany), JSPS Fellowship (Japan), CNRS Fellowship (France) and ICTP fellowship.
She has also received the UGC Research Award and a Mid-Career Award in recognition of her academic and research contributions.
