Patna Women’s College and Loreto College, Kolkata Engage in Academic and Cultural Exchange

Patna: Patna Women’s College, in collaboration with Tarumitra, hosted a Student Exchange Programme with Loreto College, Kolkata on Saturday, at the Mother Veronica Excellence and Innovation Centre. The event, organized by the Centre for National and International Collaborations, brought together 46 students and two teachers from Loreto College for an academic and cultural exchange.

The programme began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C, Principal of Patna Women’s College, who greeted the visiting professors, Nayanika Saha and Tania Mondal, from the Departments of Psychology and Education at Loreto College. The event also featured Professor Shahla Yasmin, Head of the Department of Zoology at Patna University, as a resource person. The college anthem “Hey Manav” was followed by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony to signify the start of the programme.

A video presentation showcased the highlights of Patna Women’s College, followed by addresses from Alok John, Dean of National International Collaborations and Consultancy Services, and the visiting professors. Students from Loreto College presented a PowerPoint on the monsoon season in West Bengal, covering various aspects such as geography, culture, and social impacts. The SRISHTI Environment Club of Patna Women’s College added to the event’s charm with a musical performance, setting the stage for Professor Yasmin’s insightful session on the role of youth in environmental conservation, which concluded with an engaging quiz.

The event culminated in a cultural dance performance by Loreto College students and a campus tour. The programme ended with a plantation drive, where students from both colleges planted a Mahogany tree as a symbol of unity and respect for nature.

The event was well-coordinated by Alok John, Devopriya Dutta of Tarumitra, and Professor Shahla Yasmin. Shrishti Tiwari, Premier of the Student Council 2024-25, moderated the programme, and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mariyum Fatima, Vice-Premier of the Student Council 2024-25.
