Patna Women’s College Holds Workshop on Integrating Technology in Commerce Education
Patna: Patna Women’s College organised a workshop-cum-training programme on Saturday for commerce students, titled “Integrating Technology in Commerce Education.” The event, held in collaboration with Nergy India Private Limited (Nergy Vidya), focused on the benefits of hands-on and experiential learning. The workshop brought together experts to equip students with the technical skills needed for the digital era.
The session began with an inaugural address by Dr Soofia Fatima, head of the Department of Commerce and Dean of the Faculty of Commerce & Management. She emphasised the growing need for students to possess both commercial acumen and technological expertise, highlighting the increasing relevance of practical learning and tech-integrated commerce courses for career success.
C.A. Peter Richards, Chief Operating Officer of Nergy India Private Limited, led a detailed presentation explaining the integration of information technology with academic learning. He demonstrated how Nergy Vidya’s simulated software allows students to gain practical experience in GST and income tax filing, financial planning, and corporate affairs. Richards also provided hands-on training for students in filing GST and income tax returns.
C.A. Binay Bharti underscored the importance of empowering students through practical training, while C.A. Vivek Kumar conducted an interactive session, teaching students how to generate and decode PAN cards, followed by a short quiz to keep the session engaging. C.A. Binay Kumar discussed the relevance of the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in relation to the workshop’s topics.
The event was moderated by Arshi Khan, a B.Com Semester V student, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Arusha Deo from Semester III. The workshop concluded with the national anthem. Attendees included students from B.Com (Hons) and the faculty members of the Department of Commerce.
