Patna: Patna Women’s College organized a Carol Singing Competition on December 18, 2024, to celebrate the spirit of Christmas. The competition featured performances in both Hindi and English, showcasing the talents of students across various disciplines. The event was graced by jury members Reverend Father Josey Mathias, Director of Prabhat Prakashan, Sister M. Mridula, Principal of Mount Carmel School, and Dr. Alok John, Dean of National and International Collaboration and Consultancy Services at Patna Women’s College.

The competition commenced with the Hindi Carol segment, where eight teams performed songs like Aaj ka yeh din hai, Jhumo naacho khushi se aaj, Bethlehem ke gaushale mein, and Khushiyon ki raat. This was followed by the English Carol segment, with another eight teams presenting songs such as One starry night, Great day in Bethlehem, and O Holy Night. Jury member Father Josey Mathias highlighted the deeper significance of carols, describing them as symbols of joy, peace, and unity. He applauded the participants for their efforts and provided insights into the technical aspects of singing.

The winners of the Hindi Carol Competition were Code 3 (Geography), Code 8 (Mixed), Code 5 (Psychology), and Code 6 (History). In the English Carol category, the winning teams were Code 4 (Geography), Code 3 (Mixed), and Code 2 (History). The results were announced by the college principal, Sister M. Rashmi, who also congratulated all participants and emphasized the importance of participation over winning.

The event was meticulously planned and executed under the guidance of cultural coordinators Dr. Sister Celine Crasta, Head of the Department of History; Ms. Enakshi Dey Biswas, Coordinator of Performing Arts; and Ms. Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce. Mariyum Fatima, Vice Premier, and Stuti Singh, Environment and Discipline Secretary of the Student Council, moderated the program.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Koushiki Prasad, Joint Cultural Secretary of the Student Council. The Carol Singing Competition successfully brought together students and faculty, spreading the festive spirit while encouraging creativity and collaboration.
