Patna Women’s College Hosts Short Video Competition to Mark World Wetlands Day
Patna: The ECO Task Force, in collaboration with the Department of Zoology at Patna Women’s College, organised a short video-making competition on Thursday to commemorate World Wetlands Day. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the vital role wetlands play in biodiversity conservation, climate regulation, and water purification.
The competition, themed Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future, saw participation from 45 members of the ECO Task Force, showcasing their filmmaking skills to highlight the ecological importance of wetlands.
The winners were announced at the event, with Suhani Kumari, Muskan Singh, and Pallavi Rani from the Department of Zoology securing first place. Vijaya, Anjali Kumari, and Ankita Kumari from the Department of Economics took second place, while the third position was shared by two groups from the Department of Zoology: Aishwarya, Vaidehi Jha, and Ashi Tiwari, alongside Muskan Bharti, Khushi, and Pratiksha.
The competition was judged by Dr Shazia Rahman, head of the Department of Advertising and Marketing Management, and Ms Roma, head of the Department of Mass Communication. Alka Rani, a Semester IV Zoology student, served as the main compere, while Archana Sharma, also from Semester IV, delivered the vote of thanks.
The event was coordinated by Dr Sumeet Ranjan, secretary of the ECO Task Force and assistant professor in the Department of Zoology. Faculty members and support staff from the department were also present to encourage the participants.
