Patna Women’s College Kicks Off Orientation Programme for New Academic Batch
Patna: The three-day Orientation Programme for the new academic batches of UG 2024-2028 and PG 2024-2026 commenced on Monday at Veronica Auditorium, Patna Women’s College, an autonomous institution under Patna University. The inaugural day began with a Bhajan to seek divine blessings, led by Dr. Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Head of the History Department and Cultural Coordinator.
Dr. Sister M Rashmi A.C., Principal of Patna Women’s College, addressed the new students, encouraging and blessing them. She outlined the college’s rules and regulations, emphasizing the core values of Faith in God, Honesty, Morality, Uprightness, and the Pursuit of Excellence. She also briefed the students on the National Education Policy 2020.
Following this, Dr. Amrita Chowdhury, Coordinator of IQAC and Head of the Geography Department, introduced the students to the add-on courses offered by the college and familiarized them with the campus culture. A lively dance session led by Dr. Manjula Sushila, Head of the Hindi Department and Sports Coordinator, and Shweta Singh, Sports Teacher, added a surprise element to the programme.
Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor of Commerce and Cultural Coordinator, highlighted the cultural aspects of the institution and motivated students to actively participate in cultural activities. She elaborated on the college’s efforts towards the holistic development of each student and the significance of cultural activities in exploring students’ creative sides. Puja also introduced various student-body clubs such as Dakhal (Theatre Society) and Tark (Debating Society).
The session concluded with Sister Nelsa A.C., Assistant Professor of English, leading the College Anthem, “HEY MANAV”, and explaining its significance based on the teachings of St. Teresa of Avila, the patroness of Patna Women’s College.
The event was successfully organized by Dr. Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Enakshi Dey Biswas, Coordinator of Performing Arts, and Puja Kumari. The programme was moderated by Mariyum Fatima, Vice-Premier of the Student Council 2024-25.
