Patna: The Department of English at Patna Women’s College, in collaboration with the college’s poetry club Poesis, hosted a poetry recitation competition titled “I Write, I Recite” on July 17 in Carmel Hall.
Centred around the theme “Conflict Resolution and Positive Peace”, the event saw enthusiastic participation from 19 students across various semesters. The entries reflected personal, political and philosophical interpretations of peace in contemporary times.

The panel of judges comprised Dr Richa, Assistant Professor at Patna College, and Dr Prabhat Jha, Assistant Professor at Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University.
The programme was held under the guidance of Dr Sahar Rahman, Head of the Department of English, and was coordinated by Dr Shahla Rehana and Dr Deepika Tiwari. Faculty members from the department were also present at the event.
Shruti Singh, a student of MA Semester 3, took first place. The second and third prizes were awarded to Ayesha Zeya Haider (BA Sem 5) and Palak Verma (BA Sem 1), respectively.
The event was moderated by Soumya Vartika, Joint General Secretary of the Student Council (2025–26), while Megha Kumari, Joint Environment and Discipline Secretary, delivered the vote of thanks.
