Patna: The Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning at Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) organised a one-day hands-on workshop on “Emerging Trends on Semiconductor Technology” on 6 January. The workshop aimed to give students practical knowledge about semiconductors, a sector that is playing a key role in India’s technological growth. Around 100 students attended the programme, showing strong interest in learning about this advanced field.
The workshop began with a warm welcome by Mrs Poonam Abraham Lakra, Head of the Department of AI & ML. She introduced the resource person, Dr Bibhuti Vikramaditya, Director of Smartway Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Incubator at IIT Patna. Dr Vikramaditya explained the basic concepts of semiconductors, their historical development, and how they are used in various industries today. He also discussed the importance of semiconductors in modern electronics and technology.
During his address, Dr Vikramaditya highlighted the role of the semiconductor sector in supporting India’s “Make in India” initiative. He said that developing strong semiconductor manufacturing in the country can help make India more self-reliant and create new jobs and business opportunities. He encouraged students to explore careers in this growing field, including research, manufacturing, and technology development.
The workshop also included an interactive session where students could ask questions and discuss practical aspects of semiconductor technology. Participants shared positive feedback, saying that the workshop was both informative and inspiring. Many students found the guidance on career opportunities and practical applications especially useful. The event ended with a sense of excitement among students, who left motivated to explore the semiconductor industry and contribute to India’s technological growth.
