Patna Women’s College Students Lead 310-kg Cleanup in Ganga Swachhta Mahakumbh

Patna: Students from ‘Samarth’ Social Work Club at Patna Women’s College, have played a pivotal role in the “Ganga Swachhta Mahakumbh Patna” initiative under “Namami Gange” project.

On February 23, in collaboration with the Department of Social Work’s Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement (PACE) programme and Being Helper Foundation, the club participated in a 251-hour mega cleanliness drive, collecting 310kg of waste from Digha Ghat. The collected waste was sent to Patna Municipal Corporation’s waste management plant for proper disposal.

As part of their efforts, the students also conducted a public awareness campaign at JP Ganga Path roundabout, displaying posters and banners to highlight the importance of maintaining the cleanliness and sanctity of the Ganga.

The “Ganga Swachhta Mahakumbh Patna” is the first of its kind in the city, spanning three months with a focus on ghat cleaning, waste management, and community engagement. The initiative was coordinated by Dr Mridul Mishra, head of the Department of Social Work and coordinator of ‘Samarth’ Social Work Club, alongside Shubham, state coordinator of Being Helper Foundation.
