Patna: With the coming winters, there has been a change in the opening and closing timings of the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, commonly known as Patna zoo. A slight change has also been made for all the parks of Patna as well.

Given the dipping mercury, the timings of visitors to zoo and parks have changed. Now, Patna Zoo will remain open from 6 am to 5 pm. This schedule is imposed till February.   On the other hand, all the parks will remain open from 5:30 am to 7:30 pm.

Earlier, Patna Zoo remained open for a little longer, from 5 am to 6 pm. At the same time, the timing of opening of the parks was from 5 am to 8 pm.

An official at Patna zoo said every year the timings are changed given the cold weather. Time has been reduced by one hour each in the morning and evening. It is getting dark at five in the evening. Due to this, it has been decided to change the timings of Patna Zoo, he said.

The official claimed that on average, 6,000 visitors come to Patna Zoo every day, which increases to 8,000 -9,000 in winter. The entry fee for the zoo is Rs 30 per adult and Rs 10 per child. Apart from this, there are separate charges for boating, nursery, aquarium, etc.

The effect of increasing cold has started becoming visible on animals also in the zoo. The zoo administration is paying particular attention to the care and feeding of the animals in winter by considering winter in mind.
