Patna Zoo Celebrates 51st Foundation Day with Enthusiasm

Patna: The 51st foundation day of Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park was celebrated with great enthusiasm on Saturday, marking the conclusion of the park’s year-long 50th anniversary program. The event saw significant contributions from zoo ambassadors and park employees.
Dr. Prem Kumar, Bihar’s Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, formally inaugurated a new postmortem chamber at Patna Zoo and planted a sapling to commemorate the occasion. The celebrations continued with a bird show held in the zoo’s study hall, featuring traditional sketches by Shri Shyamaldasi, which the minister visited and appreciated.
As part of the foundation day festivities, Dr. Prem Kumar and other officials cut a celebratory cake and were welcomed to the 3D hall, where they received souvenirs. Participants of the nature education camp, held from June 12 to 15, were recognized by the minister for their involvement. Additionally, park staff and zoo volunteers were honored for their outstanding contributions.
The celebrations included an environmental quiz and a pot painting competition, which saw participation from approximately 110 children from various schools and institutions. The event concluded with a group photograph of the minister alongside the children and park staff.
Key officials in attendance included Prabhat Kumar Gupta, Chief Conservator of Forests-cum-Chief Wildlife Warden, Bihar; Abhay Kumar, Director of Ecology and Environment, Bihar; Satyajit Kumar, Director; Shashi Bhushan Prasad, Deputy Director; Anand Kumar, Conservator of Forests, Animal Husbandry; Arvind Kumar Verma, Conservator of Botanical Care; and Biologist Mr. Arif, along with zoo staff and ambassadors.
