Patna : Patna is poised for a dramatic infrastructural leap as the Bihar government greenlights an expansive elevated flyover, promising to untangle the city’s notorious traffic snarls. Spanning 2.4 km along the old NH 30—now State Highway 106—the flyover will stretch from Maharani Chowk to Factory Mor, offering commuters a seamless transit corridor through the congested Fatuha and Bakhtiyarpur market districts.
Engineering a New Era of Urban Mobility
As vehicular pressure mounts on the reclassified Patna-Fatuha-Bakhtiyarpur highway, the administration is rolling out an ambitious blueprint to reclaim ease of movement. The new alignment of NH 30 bypasses Fatuha, diverting traffic southward before Didarganj, but the older stretch remains a crucial artery, warranting urgent infrastructural intervention.
To further decongest Bakhtiyarpur’s bustling commercial hub, a 2.94 km elevated bypass has been proposed, cutting through key locations such as Rawaich Thakurbari, the Block Office, Purani Bazar, Thana Mod, and Haqiqatpur. The project forms a strategic component of Bihar’s grand vision to expand State Highway 106 from Didarganj to Karjan, seamlessly knitting together urban and peri-urban corridors.
A Colossal Investment in Connectivity
In a bold fiscal manoeuvre, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, Samrat Chaudhary, has earmarked an unprecedented Rs17,908 crore for road infrastructure in the 2025-26 budget. This war chest is set to bankroll a sweeping network of bypasses, bridges, and expressways, reinforcing Bihar’s position as an emerging powerhouse of connectivity and commerce.
Unveiling the budget, Chaudhary underscored the transformative impact of robust infrastructure on the state’s economic trajectory. The Rs3.17 lakh crore budget—Rs38,000 crore higher than the previous year—signals a resolute push towards modernisation.
