Patna: A video of Jyoti Singh, the wife of Bhojpuri film star and former Lok Sabha candidate Pawan Singh, has gone viral in Bihar, in which she claims she is struggling to make ends meet despite her marriage to the actor.
In the clip, Jyoti Singh appeals directly to her husband, urging him to “sit down and talk” to her about her difficulties. “Despite being Pawan Singh’s wife, I am struggling and facing hardship everywhere. If not as a husband, then at least as a human being, he should listen,” she says, with tears in her eyes.
The video has generated widespread discussion in Karakat, the constituency where Pawan Singh recently contested – and lost – the general election. Jyoti Singh had campaigned extensively for him, meeting locals and rallying support, but while the actor withdrew from the region after his defeat, his wife has remained active, continuing to engage with residents and hear their concerns.
In her statement, Jyoti Singh stressed that she remains Pawan Singh’s legal wife until their divorce is finalised. “If I am struggling on the streets, then not only am I being humiliated, but Pawan Singh is also being humiliated. I am not his enemy. I am his wife,” she said.
The video has also sparked speculation about Jyoti Singh’s political ambitions. Though she has not declared her intentions publicly, her presence in Karakat and ongoing interactions with the community have prompted suggestions she may contest in upcoming assembly elections.
The timing of her appeal has added to its impact. During the Navratri festival, a period celebrating women’s empowerment, Pawan Singh’s devotional songs are being played across puja pandals, while his wife’s claims of neglect raise questions about his personal life.
