Patna: Patna Police have announced a significant breakthrough in the murder case of notorious criminal Chandan Mishra, confirming the arrest of the main accused, Tausif alias Badshah, along with three other individuals, including Nishu Khan, from Kolkata, West Bengal. The arrests were made on Saturday, successfully solving the high-profile case within days of the incident.

Chandan Kumar Mishra was fatally shot at Paras Hospital under Shastri Nagar police station on July 17, succumbing to his injuries during treatment. For the swift resolution of this case, Patna Police conducted an extensive investigation, employing technical analysis, meticulous observation of CCTV footage, and gathering human intelligence.

In a joint operation, the Bihar Police, with crucial assistance from Kolkata Police and Kolkata STF, successfully apprehended Tausif alias Badshah from Kolkata. Nishu Khan and two other suspects were also taken into custody.

Initial investigations have revealed that the conspiracy for this murder was meticulously planned at Nishu Khan’s residence, with Tausif alias Badshah identified as the primary executor of the crime. Interrogation of other suspects linked to the incident is ongoing. Authorities are currently undertaking the legal process to bring all detained accused to Patna under transit remand. Bihar Police has highly commended the “very commendable cooperation” received from Kolkata Police and Kolkata STF, noting that a dedicated team from Kolkata actively assisted the Patna Police throughout the operation.

Jail-Hatched Plot and Surveillance

Police had received intelligence that the main accused had traveled to Kolkata via Gaya, Barhi, and Ranchi. This information prompted an extensive search operation within the limits of Anandpur, Kolkata Leather Complex, and Bhangar police stations. A white SUV, seen in CCTV footage with five suspects, was a key lead in tracking their movements.

The mastermind behind this audacious murder has been identified as Sheru Singh, who is currently incarcerated in Purulia jail in West Bengal. According to police sources, Sheru, from his jail cell, strategically won over some of Chandan Mishra’s close associates to plan the assassination. The conspiracy was reportedly executed when Chandan came out of jail for medical treatment. Tausif, one of the arrested, allegedly informed Sheru about Chandan’s admission to Paras Hospital on Nehru Path. Subsequently, the murder was carried out with precise planning, including a prior recce by the shooters.

The STF team will present the accused in court for transit remand, after which they will be brought to Patna for further interrogation and legal proceedings. Police anticipate that these arrests will lead to the unraveling of more names connected to this gang war and broader criminal network.
