Patna: In a rapidly escalating political confrontation ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Jan Suraaj convenor Prashant Kishor (PK) has leveled fresh and serious allegations of corruption against Bihar government minister Ashok Choudhary, claiming the JD(U) leader has amassed assets worth Rs 500 crore through illicit means.
Kishor, who has recently intensified his attacks on key figures in the NDA, asserted on Saturday that Minister Choudhary operates a 5% commission system on government tenders.
“In the last eight months, he has awarded contracts worth more than Rs 20,000 crore. He has taken a 5 percent cut on each contract as commission,” Kishor claimed at a press conference.
Ultimatum on Defamation Notice
The allegations are part of a broader legal and political battle. Minister Choudhary had previously sent a Rs100 crore defamation notice to Prashant Kishor. PK has now issued an ultimatum, demanding the minister withdraw the legal notice within seven days.
“He has sent a defamation notice of Rs 100 crore. If within seven days they don’t apologize for sending Prashant Kishor false defamation notices, we will reveal the other assets he has seized, which are worth Rs 500 crore,” Kishor stated.
Land Ownership Challenge and Demand for Resignation
Kishor specifically challenged Choudhary on the ownership of a particular piece of land, a claim he had previously made. He stated he has issued a press release confirming the land is in the minister’s name and is demanding immediate political consequences.
“If this land is yours, then prepare for the slavery of the people of Bihar, not of Jan Suraaj, and resign,” Kishor said. “If you don’t resign, you won’t be allowed to do politics. You will be surrounded. If the Chief Minister doesn’t listen, we will go to the Governor and the court to demand action against him.”
Kishor’s latest attack follows previous allegations he has made against other NDA leaders, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and MP Sanjay Jaiswal, setting a contentious tone for the upcoming election cycle.
