Gayaji: President Droupadi Murmu is set to visit Gaya on Saturday, to participate in the Pitru Paksha 2025, a major religious event where devotees perform Pitra Karma, or ancestral rites, to seek peace and salvation for departed souls. The President’s presence marks a significant moment for the district, with authorities implementing extensive security and traffic management measures in preparation for the visit.
The President will arrive at Gaya Airport and travel along the Dobhi-Gaya main road, Five Number Gate Bypass, Ghaghri Tanda Bypass, Narayani Bridge, and Bengali Ashram en route to the Vishnupad Temple. Traffic along these routes will be completely halted during her convoy’s movement. Key areas affected include Dumuhan to Sikadiya Mor, Five Number Gate to City Public School, and Chand Chowra Chowk to Ghaghri Tanda Bypass via Bengali Ashram. Heavy police deployment and barricades will be in place to ensure both security and smooth passage.
To ease disruption, the district administration has designated alternate routes for the public. One route runs from Bodh Gaya via the four-lane Gaya-Patna road, Gulariya Check Mor, Chakand Railway Crossing, Kandi-Nawada Bypass, Kukra Mor, Mehta Petrol Pump, and City Public School. Another option allows access to Vishnupad Temple via City Public School, Mehta Petrol Pump, Kukra Mor, Kandi-Nawada, and Chakand Railway Crossing. Authorities have advised the public to follow these routes and avoid the main roads during the President’s visit.
Special security arrangements will be enforced at Vishnupad Temple, Bengali Ashram, Narayani Bridge, Ghaghri Tanda Bypass, Gate No. 5, and Gaya Airport. Police personnel and administrative officials will actively manage traffic, with barricades at Chand Chowra Chowk, Rajendra Ashram, Dighi Tank, DM Chowk, and other key locations.
The President’s participation in the rituals is expected to offer spiritual solace to thousands of devotees attending the event. Beyond its religious significance, the visit also carries social and administrative importance, highlighting careful planning and public cooperation in ensuring a smooth and secure event.
The district administration has urged residents and visitors to comply with traffic restrictions and guidance to facilitate the orderly conduct of the Mela.
