Patna: Bihar is set to host the 85th All India Presiding Officers’ Conference, marking its return to the state after 42 years. The two-day event begins on Monday in the Central Hall of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, with an array of prominent political leaders and dignitaries in attendance.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla arrived in Patna on Sunday and held a courtesy meeting with Governor Arif Mohammad Khan at Raj Bhavan ahead of the conference. Other notable attendees include Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.
Agenda and Highlights
The conference will focus on the theme, “The 75th Anniversary of the Constitution and the Contribution of Parliament and State Legislatures in Strengthening Constitutional Values.” Discussions will be held in the historic old Vidhan Sabha chamber, with a film showcasing Bihar’s heritage and development screened for participants.
On the second day, January 21, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will release the 8th edition of the book “Parliamentary Methodology and Process” and inaugurate the Neva Seva Kendra in the Legislative Assembly premises. The closing session, addressed by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and the Lok Sabha Speaker, will conclude the conference.
