Patna: A property dealer was shot dead in Masaurhi, Patna, on Saturday afternoon in a daylight attack. The deceased, identified as Chotan Yadav, also known as Mukesh Kumar, was a resident of Puranchak and ran a readymade garment shop named Maa Garment in Vijay Market.
According to police sources, Yadav had left his shop with a friend on a bike, heading towards Jehanabad, when he was ambushed by a group of 5-6 criminals in a Bolero vehicle. The attackers fired multiple shots at him before fleeing the scene.
Witnesses to the incident were left in panic, with locals running for cover at the sound of gunshots. The criminals managed to escape unchallenged.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, Masaurhi police swiftly arrived at the scene. The police have recovered eight bullet shells from the area. The body of the deceased has been sent to the sub-divisional hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Masaurhi police station in-charge Anil Kumar confirmed the details of the attack, while Masaurhi Sub-Divisional Officer Nav Vaibhav stated that an investigation is underway, with assistance from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and a dog squad to trace the perpetrators.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities are actively working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the crime.
