Purnia: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the newly constructed Purnia Airport in Bihar on August 25, sources in the administration said. Preparations are underway for the event, with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) coordinating logistics ahead of the launch.
IndiGo Airlines has expressed interest in commencing flight operations from the airport in its first phase. It will begin with a regular service to Delhi, marking a significant step in improving regional air connectivity.
Purnia Airport will be the fourth civilian airport in Bihar after Patna, Gaya, and Darbhanga. Long demanded by residents of the Kosi and Seemanchal regions, the airport is expected to play a pivotal role in accelerating the area’s economic and social development.
The new airport is also set to ease travel for residents of neighbouring districts, including Katihar, Araria, and Kishanganj, reducing their reliance on more distant airports such as Bagdogra, Darbhanga, and Patna.
