Purnia: A shocking live video of a suicide attempt in Purnia has surfaced on social media, capturing the dramatic rescue of a young woman from the Saura River on Thursday night. The girl, who was reportedly distressed over personal issues, was seen on a phone call moments before attempting to drown herself.

The viral 20-second video shows the girl standing in the middle of the river, visibly emotional. She was heard shouting on the phone, “How dare you betray me!” before hanging up. Moments later, she threw her mobile phone and keys into the water. Alarmed by her actions, bystanders began calling out to her, urging her to come back. However, she suddenly submerged into the water, triggering panic among onlookers.

As the girl started drowning, local swimmers immediately jumped into the river and managed to rescue her.

Eyewitnesses reported that the girl had been speaking on the phone for about half an hour before the incident. Some speculated that she was heartbroken over a betrayal in love, while others suggested she was struggling with depression following her father’s death.

Following her rescue, locals alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and rushed the girl to GMCH Purnia for medical treatment. After she regained consciousness, the police contacted her family and handed her over to them. Â
