Patna: The Bihar Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning across 10 districts, warning residents to remain cautious as the weather is set to change drastically in the next 24 hours. The eastern parts of the state are expected to be the most affected.
Alert Issued for These 10 Districts
A weather advisory has been issued for Gaya, Nawada, Jamui, Banka, Katihar, Khagaria, Saharsa, Bhagalpur, Begusarai, and other eastern regions. Light rainfall is expected in some areas, while thunderstorms accompanied by lightning could pose a risk.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Patna, temperatures are also expected to dip by 2 to 3 degrees in the next 24 hours.
Weather Conditions on Thursday
On Thursday, Bihar experienced dry weather, with cloudy skies in the capital and surrounding areas. A rise in maximum temperatures was observed in 20 cities, including Patna, due to the absence of rainfall.
- Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 29.4°C, marking an increase of 1.4 degrees.
- Dehri in Rohtas registered the highest temperature in the state at 31.5°C.
- The minimum temperature in Patna was recorded at 17.1°C, while Agwanpur (Saharsa) recorded the lowest at 11.7°C.
Why Is the Weather Changing?
Meteorologists attribute the sudden shift in weather patterns to cyclonic circulation over western Rajasthan and Gangetic West Bengal. The influence of these systems is expected to trigger rainfall, thunderstorms, and a drop in temperatures across parts of Bihar.
