Patna: Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Patna on February 5 to attend the 130th birth anniversary celebration of freedom fighter Jaglal Chaudhary at SK Memorial Hall.

State Congress President Dr. Akhilesh Prasad Singh shared details about the event, highlighting Jaglal Chaudhary’s contributions to the freedom movement. Originally a student at Calcutta Medical College, Chaudhary abandoned his studies to join Mahatma Gandhi’s movement for independence. He later became one of the four cabinet ministers in Bihar’s interim government.

His family also played a significant role in India’s fight for freedom. His elder son, Indradev Chaudhary, was shot while hoisting the national flag at the Secretariat on August 11, 1942. He succumbed to his injuries on August 22, 1942. Despite being imprisoned for 40 years at the time, Jaglal Chaudhary took pride in his son’s sacrifice, calling him “blessed” for serving the nation.

Congress Media Department Chairman Rajesh Rathore confirmed that Rahul Gandhi will address the gathering at 11:30 AM at SK Memorial Hall and pay tribute to the late freedom fighter. Vinod Kumar Chaudhary will coordinate the event, which will witness participation from several senior Congress leaders and party workers.
