Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Samrat Choudhary has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing 1.2 million government jobs before the upcoming assembly elections. He accused the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of being “politically bankrupt” and attempting to take credit for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s work.
Samrat’s remarks came on Tuesday as CM Nitish distributed appointment letters to 6,837 candidates, including 6,341 junior engineers and 496 instructors in various government departments. The Deputy Chief Minister said the move demonstrated the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s resolve to ulfil its promises.
Employment and Development Initiatives
The deputy CM said the government is not only providing direct employment but also boosting job creation in sectors such as infrastructure, tourism, and handicrafts.
He noted that, out of the 1.2 million jobs promised, 913,000 have already been provided. In contrast, he said, only 750,000 government jobs were created between 2005 and 2020.
Criticism of the Opposition
Targeting RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and his family, Samrat said they should present their own achievements instead of claiming credit for Kumar’s work. “Nitish Kumar is delivering on his promises. Lalu Prasad’s family should list their contributions to the poor, youth, and women of Bihar, rather than just serving their own interests,” he said.
He asserted that the credit for job creation belongs solely to CM Nitish and warned the opposition against trying to claim it.
