Rahul Gandhi to Visit Kishanganj Under Bharat Jodo Yatra: Alka Lamba
Kishanganj: Indian Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba, part of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, announced in Kishanganj that Rahul Gandhi is set to reach the town as part of the 425-kilometer yatra, which will traverse the Seemanchal districts of Bihar. Lamba highlighted that the yatra aims to address issues of justice, economic development, and social and political empowerment, particularly for women.
During the press conference, Lamba disclosed that attempts were made to obstruct the yatra in Assam, where stones were thrown, and banners and posters were torn. Lamba attributed the resistance to the fear within the Central Government of a potential shift in power. She criticized the BJP government’s ten-year tenure, asserting its failure on multiple fronts. Lamba conveyed Rahul Gandhi’s commitment to implementing 33 percent reservation for women once the Congress and Alliance government assumes power in 2024.
Lamba also commented on the lack of permission to meet the Election Commission under the current government. Regarding seat-sharing discussions among alliance parties in Bihar, she stated that negotiations are ongoing. On the Congress rejecting an invitation concerning the Ram temple, Lamba viewed the issue as politically motivated, emphasizing that the temple’s construction has been politicized. She pointed out the views of the country’s Shankaracharyas and accused the BJP of using the temple and religion as election tactics due to a lack of substantive issues.
In Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s potential participation in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra was discussed. Lamba stated that it would be Nitish Ji’s decision, and the alliance would accept whatever decision is made. Lamba extended invitations to alliance partners in every state to join the yatra. Bihar Pradesh Mahila Congress President Sharwat Jahan Fatima, Kishanganj Congress District President Imam Ali Chintu, District Vice President Arun Kumar Saha, and others attended the press conference.
