Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2026: 1,599 Posts for 10th-Pass and ITI Candidates, No Exam Required

Patna: There is a major opportunity for 10th-pass and ITI-qualified candidates looking to begin a career in the Railways. The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), East Coast Railway (ECR) has invited online applications for 1,599 Apprentice posts for the 2026-27 training session.

One of the key features of the recruitment is that candidates will not have to appear for a written examination or interview. Selection will be based on a merit list prepared using marks obtained in Class 10 and ITI examinations.

1,599 Apprentice Posts to Be Filled

East Coast Railway will recruit 1,599 apprentices across various trades under the apprenticeship programme.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications online within the prescribed deadline. Selected candidates will receive a stipend during the apprenticeship period as per applicable rules.

10th Pass and ITI Qualification Mandatory

Candidates applying for the apprenticeship must have passed Class 10 or its equivalent examination from a recognised board with at least 50% marks.

In addition, applicants must hold an ITI certificate in the relevant trade issued by an institute recognised by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT).

Trades covered under the recruitment include Fitter, Welder, Electrician, Turner, Machinist and Plumber, among others.

Candidates whose Class 10 or ITI results are still awaited are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit: 15 to 24 Years

The prescribed age limit is 15 to 24 years, with the candidate’s age calculated as of September 15, 2026.

Relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government rules.

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwBD: 10 years

Applications Open Until September 15

The online application process began on August 26, 2026, at 5 pm. Eligible candidates can submit their applications until 5 pm on September 15, 2026.

Candidates should complete the application process through the official website of Railway Recruitment Cell, East Coast Railway.

How to Apply Online

Candidates can follow these steps to submit their applications:

  1. Visit the official RRC East Coast Railway website.
  2. Click on the “Act Apprentice 2026-27” recruitment link.
  3. Complete the registration process.
  4. Enter personal and educational details in the application form.
  5. Upload the required documents, including Class 10 and ITI marksheets, photograph and signature.
  6. Upload additional documents, such as a caste certificate, where applicable.
  7. Pay the application fee online, if applicable.
  8. Submit the completed application form and keep a printout for future reference.

Selection Through Merit, No Written Exam

Candidates will not be required to appear for a written examination or interview.

The selection will be made through a merit list based on marks obtained in Class 10 and ITI. Applicants should therefore enter their marks carefully and ensure that all information matches their original educational documents.

The recruitment offers 10th-pass and ITI-qualified candidates an opportunity to enter the railway apprenticeship system without having to clear a separate competitive examination.
