Rajgir: Rajgir authorities has announced a special traffic plan ahead of the upcoming Purushottam Mas Fair, which is expected to attract lakhs of devotees from across Bihar and neighbouring states. The district administration said the fair will be held from May 17 to June 15, while traffic restrictions and special arrangements will start from May 15. Officials said the number of visitors may be higher than previous years, leading to increased security and crowd management measures.
As part of the plan, several important roads in the town will remain restricted for different types of vehicles. Commercial vehicles, including trucks, tractors and pickup vans, will not be allowed to enter Rajgir through the Vanganga route. Movement on the Hasanpur overbridge to Vanganga road will also be stopped for both light and heavy vehicles. Authorities have also closed routes connecting Hariyali, Kalali Mor and the main bathing areas to reduce congestion during the fair period.
The administration has declared Brahmakund and Vaitarani Ghat as no-vehicle zones. Devotees will be allowed to reach these areas only on foot. A special entry route from Virayatan Mor to Brahmakund has been created, while a separate exit route will help control the crowd. Officials said this arrangement has been made to prevent overcrowding in the temple and bathing areas, where a large number of pilgrims gather every day during the fair.
Parking facilities have been arranged at places including PTJM College, PHED campus, Qila Maidan, Son Bhandar and the Bihar Sports Academy. Traffic barriers and police outposts will also be active at several points across the town. Officials have appealed to visitors coming from Bihar Sharif, Nawada and Gaya to follow the new route plan and cooperate with authorities for smooth movement during the fair.
