Patna: Rajgir Zoo Safari has launched the ‘Zoo Ambassador Program’ for the 2026-27 academic session, inviting school students to become the next generation of wildlife conservation advocates.
Designed for students in Classes VIII, IX and X, the initiative seeks to strengthen environmental education while equipping young people with leadership skills and practical knowledge about biodiversity and wildlife protection.
Officials said the programme is intended to foster a lifelong sense of responsibility towards nature by encouraging students to become ambassadors for conservation in their schools and communities.
How Students Can Become Zoo Ambassadors
Applications will be invited online through the official Rajgir Zoo Safari website.
Participating schools will receive study materials on wildlife conservation, after which they will conduct an examination.
The student securing the highest marks from each participating class—VIII, IX and X—will be nominated as the school’s Zoo Ambassador.
Each ambassador will serve for one academic year, from April to March.
A Year Of Learning Beyond The Classroom
During their tenure, Zoo Ambassadors will receive training and regular updates on wildlife conservation, biodiversity, environmental protection and the work being undertaken at Rajgir Zoo Safari.
Students will also be encouraged to organise awareness campaigns, environmental activities and conservation initiatives within their schools, neighbourhoods and local communities.
Officials said the programme aims to transform students from passive learners into active participants in protecting the environment.
Exclusive Experiences Inside Rajgir Zoo Safari
Selected students will gain access to experiences rarely available through conventional classroom education.
These include:
- Participation in online and offline Eco-Day celebrations and conservation programmes organised by Rajgir Zoo Safari.
- Complimentary participation in a special one-day Zoo Ambassador Program event at the safari.
- Guided educational tours of the zoo safari, wildlife hospital and animal care facilities.
- Interaction with wildlife experts, veterinarians and animal keepers.
- Free educational kits on wildlife conservation.
- Opportunities to organise conservation and environmental awareness activities in their schools.
Building Future Conservation Leaders
Beyond wildlife education, the programme also focuses on developing essential life skills.
Officials said participants will strengthen their leadership abilities, communication skills and environmental responsibility, enabling them to become advocates for sustainable living among their peers and families.
With growing concern over biodiversity loss and climate change, the initiative reflects an effort to engage young people directly in conservation and create a network of informed student leaders who can help shape Bihar’s environmental future.
