Raxaul/Patna:Two foreign nationals were detained near the India–Nepal border in Raxaul after allegedly attempting to enter India without valid documents, officials said.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Immigration Department and Haraiya police during a routine inspection drive in the border area.
Swiss and Myanmar nationals among those held
According to officials, those detained include a woman from Switzerland and a young man from Myanmar. They were intercepted during document verification checks being conducted near the Customs Chowk area under Haraiya police station limits.
Authorities said the individuals were unable to produce the required documents for legal entry into India.
Heightened vigilance along border
The detention were made amid increased security measures along the India–Nepal border. Immigration officials have intensified scrutiny of travellers and are conducting detailed verification of documents at key transit points.
Officials said the checks form part of ongoing efforts to prevent unauthorised cross-border movement and ensure compliance with immigration regulations.
Investigation under way
Security agencies are examining the circumstances surrounding the attempted entry and verifying the identities and travel histories of the two foreign nationals.
Following the incident, authorities said surveillance and inspection measures in the border region have been further strengthened to prevent similar attempts.
Officials have not yet disclosed additional details regarding the case or the legal action being initiated against the detainees.
