Sabour: The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with fervor and patriotic spirit at Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour. The campus was illuminated with tricolor lights on the eve of Republic Day, reflecting the festive mood as the university family gathered to mark the occasion.

Dr. D.R. Singh, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, presided over the event, inspecting the National Cadet Corps (NCC) parade before hoisting the national flag to the accompaniment of the national anthem. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Singh revealed the anticipated visit of the Honorable Prime Minister to Bhagalpur on February 24, where he is expected to advance Bihar’s Agricultural Roadmap by launching the Kisan Samman Nidhi initiative. “This will be a monumental step for Bihar’s farmers and a matter of pride for us all,” Dr. Singh remarked.

The Vice-Chancellor also shared updates on the university’s development efforts, noting that BAU has approached NITI Aayog with proposals to establish centers of excellence, processing units, research institutes, and 38 additional centers across Bihar. He expressed optimism about the approval of these initiatives. Highlighting the university’s pivotal role in formulating the Bihar Agricultural Roadmap, he said the extension policy crafted under the roadmap is benefiting farmers statewide.

I urge everyone to strive for even greater accomplishments,” he added.

The celebrations included vibrant patriotic dance performances by students from Bhagalpur schools. Kasturba Balika Vidyalaya secured first place, while Saint Mehi School earned second. Outstanding students and faculty from recent sports competitions were also honored.
